Triple Jump National Title
One of Torbay AC’s most promising juniors, Georgina Scoot competed in the England Athletics National Championships at Bedford. Contesting in the under 15 girls triple Jump, in the fifth round a 11.80m jump was good enough to win her the national title also setting a new championship best performance in the process. With a legal tailwind of under the 2.0m allowance this performance puts Georgie number one in the UK rankings as the best 14 year old triple jumper in the UK, and number one in the UK all time rankings.

Armada Trail Run
Torbay AC men’s team claimed the first team prize in the Armada Trail Run at Newnham Park Plymouth on Sunday. Seven Club members ran in this beautiful but testing 7 mile race around the Newham park including several deep river crossings which were the main attraction of the day for the spectators! In the triumphant mens team were 81 KevinFine (52:43)- 227 Steve Weeks (52:48)- 181 Anthony Raine (54:16). Other club members racing were 63rd Jo Loten (1:04:11)- 65 Matthew Botting (1:04:16)- 89 Steve Sharp (1:08:32)-209 Gemma Radcliffe (1:26:39)

Jungfrau Mountain marathon
Debbie Drake had a go at the Jungfrau mountain marathon in Switzerland. Starting off in Interlarken with the first 25k undulating hills, reaching Lauterbrunnen, started a steep climb up first track and then on to rocky unstable ground with steep steps. The last 1.25k was an asent of 905ft accross a rocky ridge on the side of the mountain. Finished in (6:15:52) at 8000ft up. Brilliant support with feed stations every 1k and here was a man playing bag pipes at the top.

Shwarzenbek 1/2 Marathon
Andy Philippou completed the Shwarzenbek 1/2 Marathon, starting in the small town which is located east of Hamburg, Germany, following fairly flat forest trails, starting and ending on the town’s athletic track. Andy finished 51st in a time of (2:12:27)

Fantastic Crafty Fox
Mark Bruce competed in the Fantastic Crafty Fox Half Marathon actually the 14.4mile route was over some of the most beautiful countryside in Dorset. Mark managed to finish 23rd in ( 2:14:10) out of 405 finishers receiving a cracking medal, bottle of Dorset ale and pint glass.
