Monday 27th January

Four Torbay AAC athletes travelled to Sidford on Sunday to compete in the South West Vets Cross Country Championships. The event is organised by Torbay AAC’s stalwart Bill Valentine. The 1:30pm race was timed perfectly for a bout of wet weather which promptly cleared up as soon as the last athlete crossed the finish line. Vet men and women compete in the same 3 lap 6km race which takes runners through scrub land around several rugby pitches and meadows. All four of Torbay AAC’s vets won prizes with Adam Taylor and Martyn Breslan winning their age categories and both Andy Philippou and Anthony Raine finishing 3rd in their age categories. Results on the day were: 10 Anthony Raine 26:44, 13 Martyn Breslan 27:18, 15 Adam Taylor 28:42 and 29 Andy Philippou 34:37.
