The Grizzly 2019

Gale force winds peaking at over 50mph could not deter a hardy bunch of 7 Torbay AAC runners braving the infamous Grizzly trail race. Of the two races on offer the shorter nine mile Cub or the full twenty mile Grizzly all the Torbay Athletic Club members opted for the hardcore Full Grizzly. The 20 mile route starts in Seaton and snakes through the villages of Branscombe and Beer and boasts some of the muddiest, steepest, gnarliest trails in the South West. The runners ran through mud, thigh high bogs, streams, they crushed across pebble beaches and scaled cliff faces by narrow steps. At the end finishers are rewarded with the coveted Grizzly t-shirt, a goody bag, a little bottle of rum and a hosing down by local firemen. A big thank you to Axe Valley Runners from Torbay AAC for hosting the iconic event and to all the marvellous marshy marshals for the cheering, feeding, encouragement and tip top support and organisation.
