Taunton Marathon and Half Marathon

Outstanding performances were achieved by the three Torbay AC entries, in the one or two lap course options, of Taunton Half Marathon or Marathon distances from Naomi Flanagan, Pete Monaghan and Anthony Raine.

In the Marathon Anthony Raine M45 recorded a new PB with a (3:25.06) result, running the first half in (1:34:10) but paying the price for this with severe cramp in the last 4 or so miles.

While in the Taunton Half Marathon with both Pete Monaghan and Naomi Flanagan took second podium places in their respective races, “flying vet” Pete Monaghan V50 claimed 2nd podium spot in the men’s race in (1:15:12) while Naomi Flanagan took a 2nd place finish in the Ladies race in (1:26:34)

Spring Warm up Meeting

Twenty three Junior and adult Torbay A.C. members had a very successful time at Plymouth’s Brickfields Athletics Arena The conditions were dry until after lunch when the rain came and the poor athletes running in the 200m and 1500m got absolutely drenched, but the weather didn’t stop quite a few of the athletes securing new PB’s,

Congratulations to the 800m runners: Sam Hart (2:25.7), Emma Harrison (2:41.1), Iona Farquharson (2:35.2), Mia Ratcliffe (2:53.4) and junior coach Anthony Raine (2:35.7) who all achieved PB’s and also to Kieran Raine who achieved a new PB in the discus 16:16m.

Anthony Raine also achieved a PB in the 3,000 metre race (10:56.9) coach Martyn Breslan and Sarah Harrison also flew the flag for the adult club members with sterling performances on the track. Notable good performances were also achieved by Elijah Noel in both the 100m and 200m and Verity Woods who consistently jumped just under 5 meters in the long jump.

Junior coach Eve Bates reported “It was good to see some of our younger athletes competing, some of whom for the first time”. Amy Harrison celebrated her birthday by running a PB in the 75 and 600 metres and shared her birthday cake with the rest of the team.
