On Thursday Anthony Raine ran the Michelmores 5k Charity Race around the City of Exeter. The race hosts over 600 runners all wearing the same sponsored race T-Shirts. The route starts and finishes at the Cathedral and takes in the High Street, the Castle, Gandy Street, Rougemont Gardens, Princesshay and parts of the Roman Wall. Anthony Raine finished in 36th place (19:50) 1st MV50 winning a Trophy and box of chocolates

Eight runners from Torbay AAC took on The City to Sea Marathon a challenging 26.60 mile run or walk from Exeter Riverside to Babbacombe Downs in Torquay. With quite a few climbs before reaching the finish! The route has riverside paths, country lanes, woodlands, stunning cliff tops, beaches, harbours and much more. Simply the best scenery Devon has to offer.

On Saturday Debbie Drake took part in the Jungfrau marathon with 4000 others.Known as the worlds most beautiful marathon. It starts in central Interlarken heading east where runners run along the shore of Lake Brienz. The first 10k is flat as the course heads up to Lautenbrunnen at 20k. It is at this point it heads eastwards up the alpine side.This is the steepest part zig zaging up the hill side climbing 1500ft in 5k up to Wengen.The course continues upwards over Wengernalp and then on up beneath the Eiger towards the finish at Kleine Scheidegg. Total climb of 7234ft at an altitude of 6761ft. It was 15° at the start and 3° at the finish. Debbie finished in 5.51.49.

Torbay AAC’s Cassandra Harrison tan The 19th Stockholm half marathon took place on Saturday 7th September. 15000 runners from over 80 nations. The start and finish was next to the beautiful Royal palace and Stockholm parliament building. The course was undulating but had plenty of bands and DJs to entertain the runners as well as 7 water stations and 3 feed stations. Cassandra Harrison (1 :49 :11)

On Sunday Anne Lucas ran her 26th Great North Run on Sunday in a time of (2:23:00) 7th out of 66 ladies in the 70 plus age group. Very pleased with that!

Three Torbay AC club members took on the Volcano race on Dartmoor, this 10 mile race started with a 2 mile uphill, boggy Dartmoor trails followed before the downhill finish.
