On Wednesday night 8 Torbay AC runners took to the trails at Haldon Forest Park for the Gecko Gathering 5k & 10k races. The 5k loop, which the 10k runners did twice, was a fast 1 mile downhill to start, followed by a challenging constant 2 mile climb uphill to the finish. In the 5k 89 runners lined up at the start. Brian Lewis finished 3rd place in a time of 27:49, followed home by: 10th Mark Luscombe 33:01 26th Natalie Higgs 37:26
29th Charlotte Philippou 38:09 In the 10K 71 runners started and first home for Torbay was Tas Felstead finishing 25th in 1:04:03
40th Lisa Belsten 1:08:56 45th Anita Ley 1:10:58 59 Gemma Radcliffe 1:17:29

On Thursday evening 3 Torbay AC members ran the challenging, undulating Kingsbridge 10km road race. The race is held along quiet, scenic country roads of the South Hams, with a few hills for good measure!!
First back for the club was Daniel Bickford-Beers in a time of 48.52. Other results: Cassandra Harrison 53.24 Kav Solder 55.27.

3 Torbay AC members took part in the Cornwood 10km on Saturday 27 July. The run took place around Cornwood and Lutton, picturesque villages in the southern part of Dartmoor National Park. The run was mostly on roads but with some tracks and fields. Results Pete Monaghan 36.48, 4th place overall and 1st male Vet. Steve Weeks 43.22. Cassandra Harrison 52.20.

On a very hot Saturday two Torbay Athletic Club Members took on the famous Jurassic 10k held at Budleigh Salterton. This was a multi terrain event with windy narrow lanes with sun drenched fields, paths, steps, smells of the countryside and even the odd bunny rabbit holes for good measure.
The two Torbay Athletic Club members were truly rewarded with outstanding coastal views whilst running on the well known South West Coastal Path.
The Jurassic 10k this year had 324 happy runners taking part. First to finish for Torbay Athletic Club was Mark Smith in position 145 with a time of 56.35, secondly Andy Philippou in position 201 (1:02:58). At the finish runners were rewarded with a colourful medal.
Torbay Athletic Club would like to thank the excellent organisation and the very kind Marshalls who made this a brilliant event.

On Sunday for 10 Torbay AAC members the venue was Stoke Gabriel Carnival for the 10k ish run and the Prusty Plod a 5 mile race with proceeds of the races going to Rowcroft Hospice and the Carnival fund. The course is a challenge,80% off road around the village & may contain one or two hills(less hills in the shorter route!) pretty much the norm for Devon!! All finishers received a medal a bacon bap & some local Hunts Cider to wash it down!! (Results pending)
