City to Sea
Three hundred and sixty seven participants lined up at the start line of the fourth City to Sea event organised by Torbay Holiday Helpers Network charity, (who give families living with serious illness and bereavement, memory making holidays).
It was a question of “Which event will you choose?” the 34 Mile Ultra or a 26.2 Marathon, with both routes following a multi terrain route along riverside paths, country lanes, beaches, sea wall, cliff tops, woodlands and more, starting by Exeter Riverside and finishing at Babbacombe Downs With a Fantastic Bespoke Finishers Medal, Tech T-shirt and Free Fish & Chips waiting at the finish
Taking on their first Ultra 34 miler were Torbay AC’s Jo Loten and Anita Merritt experiencing some of the very tough coastal path sections from Shaldon to Torquay. Jo Loten finished her first Ultra as 1st lady in (5hrs 55 mins) receiving a bespoke glass trophy made by Our Glass in Cockington. Anita Merritt finished strongly in 40th place in (7hrs 38 minutes), also taking part in the Ultra was Steve Rowe finishing in (8 hrs 40 minutes) In the equally testing 26.2 Marathon distance Elizabeth Bebbington finishing 25th in (4 hrs 37 mins)

Lustleigh 10K

Nine Torbay AAC members took part in the Lustleigh 10k, renowned for being one of the toughest courses on the off-road racing circuit. There were a record number of entries this year with some tough competition. Storming across the finish line to claim First Lady prize was Naomi Flanagan. The Torbay ladies claimed the second place team. Club results as follows: First home for the club in position 15 was Shaun McKernan in (44:31) closely followed by Naomi Flanagan in position 17 (44:54), 37 Martyn Breslan (47:46), 73 Fleur Ricklin (53:01), 114 Sara Crozier (58:50), 147 Ray Brown (1:04:13), 148 Tessa Hearfield (1:04:30), 176 Michelle Sandu (1:14:08), 188 Gemma Radcliffe (1:17:12)

 

Dartmouth Regatta Road Race

At the Dartmouth Regatta Road Races, TAAC junior club member Sam Hart won the 13-14 age group race in (9:21) setting a new course record! While three Senior members took on the longer testing 5.1 mile course along South Embankment, up Weeke Hill before levelling out through Stoke Fleming and turning back towards Little Dartmouth. Pete Monaghan finished 3rd and 1st MV50 in (29:56)-14 Steve Weeks (35:34) with V70 Bill Valentine 115th in (65:58)
