The Ken Trickey Memorial Event : report from Josie Ratcliff
The Ken Trickey Memorial Event is one of the season’s opening events for young athletes across the South West, from U11 age group upwards, organised by Exeter Harriers.
Torbay Athletic Club Juniors produced very promising performances. Despite the weather being cool and windy. Rebekah Roots came home with 3 gold medals from the U20s; competing in events for the 100m (12.77secs), 200m (26.28) and 400m (60.5). Moreover, she reached the county standard for all her events, highlighting the fact that the season has already started off great for her.
Megan Webber also ran well to come 2nd in all of those events showing her winter training has paid off. Elyse Leech came 3rd overall for her 200m race, receiving a fast time of (26.57). Ben Hooper in the U17s threw his javelin 43.75m; mastering a new PB. Additionally, he earned himself a gold medal for his throw.
Elijah Noel, also U17, obtained a silver medal for his 100m (12.30s) and came 3rd in his 200m (25.03). Verity woods U17s, achieved a Devon county standard long jump measurement of 4.90m. Jacob Finch seized a new club record for under 15 boys in his 300m race, with a time of 39.5secs, this was also the Devon county standard. His 200m time was also a Devon county standard.
Georgia Davis, U15, ran well to produce a (29.13) 200m time and took home a 3rd place medal for her time in the 100m (14.06). Estelle roots, U15 as well, ran the 200m getting a pleasing time of (29.40). For her 100m she secured a time of (14.25). U13 girls,
Hannah Davis, Isobele Smith and Milla Schwartz ran great PBs in their 100m.
Josh Taylor U13 ran 3 brilliant events too, for his 100m he came 2nd (14.78), he jumped 4.25m in his long jump and came 1st; his 75m hurdles (14.78) which was the time that awarded him 1st place as well. Sam Barnaby gained himself a new PB in his U13, 1500m race (5.34.16).
Aron Smith came 1st in the long jump and got a PB, he jumped a huge 3.39m in order for that gold. Stefan Philip came 3rd in his high jump reaching 1.20m high in the sky.
For our prime 800m runners, Iona Farquahson U13, brought home a shiny gold medal for her time of (2.35.48)
Ella Rogers accomplished a bronze medal for her time 2.42.09 and a new PB. Mia Ratcliff reaped a time of (2.53.76), Hannah Davis ran a positive (3.04.5) and Grace Povey gained herself a (3.33.9) time. Emma Harrison U15 received a 2.41 time, just outside her PB.

The 2018 TAVY 13
Torbay AC’s Brian Lewis ran in the Tavy 13 miler billed as “a worthwhile challenge” the very undulating course headed out onto Dartmoor before turning back to Tavistock to finish finish on the smooth athletic track . Brian Lewis finished 130th in (1:50:31) there were 373 finishers.
