Cardiff Grand Prix Meeting

Elyse and Rebecca both competed indoors at Cardiff in the final Grand Prix meeting of the winter. Becs had a great day setting a new Personal Best and new Club record in the 60m recording a swift 7.98 sec, Elyse recorded a nippy 8.10 sec. In the 200m which doubled as the South of England Champs. Elyse collected the silver medal winning her heat in 26.55 sec, Becs recorded 26.89 sec in her heat. In the 400m Becs recorded a new PB of 60.93 sec, running an even pace race before surging of the final bend to win her heat.

 

FULFORD FIVE

Sixteen Torbay AC members ran in the Fulford 5, a popular 2 lap 5 mile road race since the 1980’s, run around the streets and seafront of Exmouth.
There were many outstanding individual and team performances from the Torbay runners, with a win for the 1st Vet Male team of Lee Turner Pete Monaghan, Nick Robinson, Steve Weeks. A 3rd Senior men’s team win for Lee Turner. Kevin Fine. Pete Monaghan and Steve Weeks

COASTAL TRAIL SERIES
David and Julia Gow-Smith managed a double act in age category prize wins when they competed in the South Devon stage of the Coastal Trail series organised by Kingsbridge based Endurancelife.
“Very muddy would be an understatement said the pair, with the venue switching from East Prawle to Beesands at 24 hours notice due to waterlogging!!” but still the event sells out every year!
David Gow-Smith finished 17th overall out of 316 runners in the 13.2 mile off road Half Marathon in a time of 2hrs 2 mins and 1st MV55. With Julia Gow-Smith finishing 38th out of 176 runners for the 6.9 mile off road 10K in 75 mins and 1st FV55.

South West Schools Championships

The six Torbay AAC athletes who represented Devon in the South West Schools championships put in great performances despite facing fierce competition in extremely boggy conditions. Iona Farquharson flew around the 2km course to finish 4th in the Minor girls race, with Ella Rogers 12th and Mia Ratcliff 36th. Their results helped to secure victory for the Devon Minor girls ! Xavier Bly ran a great race in the Minor boys to finish 29th. James Alcock produced another great run to be the 10th over the line in the Interboys and Hayden Fey was 41st in the senior boys race. Great running by all in very tough conditions.
