Funchal Half Marathon.

Debbie Drake and Irene Hewings took a trip to the beautiful island of Madeira to run The Funchal Half Marathon, an

annual event which brings athletes from many countries to the city of Funchal.The Torbay ladies said “high winds heavy rain and a few hills did not make it an easy race” with

Debbie Drake finishing in 1:44:02 and 4th in age while Irene Hewings ran it in 1:59:47 to claim a 2nd podium spot in her age cat.




SW Vets Cross Country Championships.

Martyn Breslan claimed 2nd podium place overall in the South West Vets. Cross Country  Championships at Sidford Devon on a flat but muddy 6km course. Martyn Breslan who finished 2nd overall (24:27) also won his age category with Anthony Raine finishing 9th in (25:56)




South Brent Wild Night Run.

Steve Bruce took on The South Brent 10mile Wild Night Run a tough not for the faint-hearted event, with the first five miles being mainly uphill to Shipley Bridge with one or two brief descents before sending you nearly waist deep in the bogs. Steve Bruce’s time was 1:48:6 finishing 32nd out of 101 in the 10miler which turned out to be 11miles! Saying “A cracking event in the boggy darkness”



The Longleat 10K.

At Longleat Torbay‘s Garry Hooker competed in the Longleat 10k, starting in front of the magnificent Longleat House taking in the estates private, and traffic free, roads. The route was undulating very hilly and wet said Garry, but there was a long downhill run towards House to the finish. Garry Hookers time was a creditable 46:59 fishing 107 from 1164 runners
