Devon Area Schools Cross Country Championships
At the Devon Area Schools Cross Country Championships, hosted by Stover School. Torbay AC was delighted to have 20 of their athletes selected to be in the South Devon Team ( With Will Rutland in the East Devon team) this followed their excellent performance’s in representing their individual schools last November.
Coaches Tim Peters and Eve Bates were delighted with the young athletes’ performances, as conditions were extremely tough with the course deep in mud most of the way requiring 18mil spikes. This was the most Junior members the Club has had qualify in this event for a very long time 14 last year and 5 the year before.
Podium positions went to the Clubs two Minor Girls Iona Farquharson 2nd and Ella Rogers 3rd who’s medals were very well deserved. Other stand out performances were achieved by Mia Ratcliff, Xavier Bly and James Alcock all finishing their races in top 10 positions and qualifying to run for Devon at the South West area competition on 3rd Feb. at Stover School.
The coaches finished the day saying, “We were super proud of everyone who ran the races today from Torbay AC. They all gave it their all and we know already that next year’s races will be exciting to watch as our talented athletes are just getting quicker and quicker!

Report Monday 15th January
It was unusually sunny and mild for the fourth Westward League meeting at Westward Ho! on Sunday. James Alcock found his form again and produced the stand out performance of the day by finishing 2nd in the U17 mens race and now leads the championship in his age group. Top 10 places were also achieved by his brother Morgan Alcock in the U13 boys and Nathan Hallewell in the U11 boys race. Nathan now lies 5th overall in the U11 boys and Morgan also lies 5th in the U13 boys. Strong performances by vets Anthony Raine and Lisa Hayley now put them 3rd and 5th in their respective MV45 and FV35 age categories. On the day results:
