Good Friday means Fast Friday 10k and Torbay AAC was well represented by eleven athletes for the popular race. The day broke bright and full of sunshine and promise. Around 300 runners from near and far peeled off the extra layers and lined up at Exwick for the start of the Easter event. The two lap course chased along the footpaths and cycle paths around Exwick playing fields and the River Exe flood defences. Although fast and flat it was still a course to challenge all in the hot sunshine.
First home for the club in 7th place and first MV50 was Peter Monaghan (35:27), 27 Sonny Harvey (39:43), 71 Kevin McGovern (44:51), 78 Karen Baddeley 3rd FV55 (45:55), 84 Ian Hayward (46:22), 121 Nick Dance (50:11), 128 Sara Crozier 3rd FV50(50:59), 131 Fleur Ricklin (51:24), 137 Mark Smith (52:47), 196 Andy Shout (59:13), 212 Gemma Radcliffe (01:02:55).
The Sheffield 10k Trail Race
On Easter Sunday Andy Philippou took on the Sheffield 10k Trail Race where he found Yorkshire kilometres longer than Devon ones as the race was 7.5 miles! Andy nevertheless ran a superb time of 1:08:20 in very hot conditions.
