Monday 10th June

Eight Torbay AAC athletes entering the Coleton Footacher 2019 race waited patiently through Saturday and were rewarded in the evening with a break from the torrential downpours, giving way to blue skies, sunshine and fresh air. South Devon Athletic Club once again hosted the ever popular Footacher taking runners careering down the steep coastal paths and then taking them on the brutal quad busting ascents up the cliff faces. The run threaded up and down the paths, through the woods and those brave enough to take their eyes off the rocky, uneven tracks were rewarded with the stunning backdrop of the South Devon Coast, the sea sparkling in the early evening sunshine, wild flowers in bloom and the greenery fresh and fragrant after the rain. The event, a firm favourite on the off road calendar was well marshalled with excellent organisation. First home for the club was Martyn Breslan in 8th place (56:10), followed by Ian Hayward 13 (59:08), Fay Cameron led the ladies home to take the third lady prize 19 (1:02:10) with Sarah Harrison 23 claiming 1st fv 45 (1:04:01), 24 Dan Bickford Beers (1:04:15), 27 Sara Crozier (1:05:10) , 34 Fleur Ricklin (1:12:10) and 56 Brian Lewis (1:14:10)
